With the airline’s signature blend of traditional Arabic coffee, served between Emirates lounges and onboard flights, passengers can luxuriate in a unique coffee experience that celebrates its cultural heritage.
Coffee in the Clouds
In collaboration with local artisan producer Mattina, Emirates delights its passengers with over 130,000 kilograms of their signature Arabic coffee blend served onboard each year. This exclusive blend features the finest Arabica beans sourced from Brazil’s Cerrado de Minas region, known for their smooth and aromatic notes, combined with natural cardamom and saffron. This traditional blend reflects recipes that have been passed down through generations, echoing the ceremonial coffee experience that is integral to Arabian hospitality.
Emirates serves its unique Arabic coffee in First Class cabins globally, and is also available for order in First and Business Class lounges. Beyond the signature blend, Emirates offers a variety of coffee sourced from renowned producers such as Lavazza and Coffee Planet. Passengers in Economy and Premium Economy can enjoy complimentary coffee during their flights, while Business and First Class customers can indulge in an extensive Lavazza Italian coffee menu featuring options like cappuccinos, macchiatos, and seasonal specialities crafted with Coffee Planet.
Lounges Connoisseurs
Each year, Emirates serves an average of 26,000 kilograms of coffee beans to 5.1 million customers relaxing in its luxurious Dubai lounges. The First Class lounge in Concourse B at Dubai International Airport features a dedicated coffee counter, allowing guests to select from three single-origin blends, all freshly prepared by trained baristas.
This curated selection offers a range of aromas, bitterness and acidity, and rotates every three months to introduce regular travellers to new global flavours. Notable offerings include Colombia Huila Buenavista, with its juicy, silky body and sweet notes of cacao, while Brazilian Sao Vale Do Sol is noted for its citrus acidity with chocolate undertones. Beyond Dubai, Emirates operate 34 lounges globally, catering to over 2.1 million passengers each year who consume an additional 14,000 kilograms of their refined coffee.
Curated Cabin Training
Emirates places high value on the ritual of coffee preparation, and so providing specialised training for its cabin crew is essential. This training includes learning about the origins of various coffee blend characteristics and the techniques for serving up the perfect cup. Cabin crew are trained to serve Emirates’ signature Arabic coffee, which First Class passengers can enjoy in elegant Royal Doulton fine bone china, or fine bone bugs for Business Class passengers. Additionally, the airline places absolute importance on the quality of water used in coffee preparation, maintaining rigorous standards through regular equipment audits and maintenance.
