Over 2,600 aviation professionals from around the world unite in Frankfurt, Germany, for one of the aviation industry’s most influential gatherings, the Routes World 2026. The three-day event, from Oct. 21-23, brings together airlines, airports, and tourism organisations to discuss route development, global air connectivity, and the future of international aviation.

Frankfurt Hosts the Global Route Development Community
As one of Europe’s largest aviation hubs, with extensive international connections, Frankfurt was selected to host the 31st edition of the event.
Representatives from more than 120 countries and over 240 airlines are expected to attend the event, exploring new commercial partnerships and opportunities with about 8,500 meetings scheduled.
Steven Small, Vice President of Air Transport Events at Informa, said industry collaboration remains central to aviation’s continued success, stating:
“Routes World has been, and continues to be, the environment in which the global route development community can meet and build partnerships that define the world’s future air networks,”.
Small further added that gathering decision-makers of developing air services together creates opportunities that extend beyond the event that support economic development and connections between communities.

Airline Executives Take Centre Stage
The conference programme features senior executives from major airlines, including Emirates President Sir Tim Clark, Wizz Air CEO József Váradi, Condor CEO Peter Gerber, Gulf Air CEO Martin Gauss, Lufthansa Group Chief Commercial Officer Dieter Vranckx and British Airways Chief Planning and Strategy Officer Neil Chernoff.
Discussions will centre on airline network strategies, passenger demand trends, supply chain constraints, and the future of sustainable aviation growth, among other topics of focus.
Conversations that begin at Routes events are linked to half of the world’s new air services, Industry organisers state, emphasising the conference’s impact in shaping future aviation initiatives.
As aviation stakeholders gather in Frankfurt to plan future routes and partnerships, the outcomes of Routes World 2026 could influence airline networks, tourism growth and airport development for years to come.
