Loganair is facing the prospect of cabin crew industrial action after trade union Unite announced a strike ballot for more than 60 cabin crew in a dispute over pay. Unite said its members rejected what the union describes as a “final” wage offer tabled before formal pay negotiations had begun, calling the approach unacceptable.

Strike Ballot Set For Cabin Crew

Loganair flight attendants will be put on a ballot on their willingness for potential industrial action after a rejection of what Unite called a “final” pay bid offered before the airline’s pay talks began.

According to Unite, the ballot covers over 60 cabin crew based at Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness, the Isle of Man and Southampton, serving Loganair’s network in the UK and Ireland. The ballot is expected to open on Oct. 8 and close Oct. 27, Unite said.

Loganair reported ‘31.6 million pounds after-tax profit in the past four years, the union said, with breakdowns of £7.2 million (2022), £10.5 million (2023), £5.7 million (2024) and £8.2 million (2025), Unite said.

The union added that the dispute relates to workload and job insecurity, following Loganair’s decision to withdraw its public service obligation routes to and from Dundee in August.

Loganair mentions “challenging” conditions and has no impact.

Loganair cites “challenging” climate and says it expects no service impact. Loganair said it understood that Unite is consulting its members about potential industrial action and has expressed disappointment at the move, describing recent discussions as constructive. The airline said it had made an improved offer at the end of September that would have delivered certainty for the next two years, and noted that it learned of its rejection through media channels.

Loganair said it is in an economic climate which presents a challenge, with increasing fuel prices and declining consumer demand. The airline added that it remains open and committed to reaching an agreement through the recognised collective bargaining process and said it does not expect  an impact on services.

Under current UK regulations, as summarised by Acas, if cabin crew vote in favour of industrial action, Unite is required to give at least 10 days notice to the employer before any strike action can take place.
