The aviation officials of India have confirmed that 32 airports are reopening after previously being restricted. The decision to reopen these airports came after a ceasefire agreement was reached between New Delhi and Islamabad.

The Original Reason Behind the Airport Closures
The previous ban imposed by Pakistan on Indian airlines played a key role in the closure of these airports. Tensions between India and Pakistan were brought to light due to the attacks that took place in the Kashmir region.
This led to a number of Notices to Airmen announcing the closure of India’s airports, particularly those in its north and north-western regions.

The Advice Being Given to Travellers
India’s airport authorities announced earlier today that flights will resume taking off from the air hubs of Srinagar, Chandigarh and Amritsar.
The AAI, Airports Authority of India, relayed the following message to all travellers:
“Attention Flyers; reference notice issued for temporary closure of 32 Airports for civil Aircraft operations till 05:29 hrs of 15 May 2025. It is informed that these Airports are now available for civil Aircraft operations with immediate effect,”
While this provided good news, they also provided a cautionary piece of advice to check the status of flights for any updates relating to cancellations.
