airBaltic has revealed plans to launch direct flights between its seasonal base Gran Canaria (Spain) and Molde (Norway). This new route is set to be operated between October 29, 2025, to April 8, 2026, once weekly.

Spain to Norway

The route will be operated every Wednesday between the set dates, with a flight time approximating to 5 hours and 40 minutes. This is airBaltic’s seventh direct route from their seasonal Spanish base, adding to its implemented services to Riga, Tallinn, Vilnius, Billund, Oslo Torp, and Ljubljana.

Thomas Alexander Ramdahl, Chief Commercial Officer of airBaltic said:

“The new flights will offer Norwegian travelers seamless access to this sunny and warm destination during the colder winter months, while passengers from Gran Canaria will have the opportunity to explore Molde – a city known for its stunning fjord views and vibrant cultural scene. We believe this direct service will generate demand from both ends of the route, contributing positively to inbound tourism of each region.”

airBaltic will use Airbus A220-300 aircraft when operating the new route, offering Economy and Business Class. The airline will also offer SpaceX Starlink internet onboard, becoming the first European carrier to do so.

Their single-type fleet, consisting of purely Airbus A220-300 aircraft, is one of the youngest fleets in modern European aviation. The selection of the Airbus A220-300 stems from its benefits to passengers: wider seats, larger windows, and more hand luggage space.

Additional route expansion

airBaltic also announced plans to expand its network to three more destinations in the upcoming Winter season. From October 2025 to March 2026, the airline will open routes from Riga to Faro, Tallinn to Madeira, and Gran Canaria to Ljubljana.

Furthermore, the Riga-Dubai route will become a daily service while the Vilnius-Dubai route will double in capacity, transitioning into a four-weekly service. airBaltic also plans to enhance connectivity to Amsterdam from all three Baltic capitals. They want to schedule 19 weekly flights from Riga and 14 weekly flights from Tallinn and Vilnius each to the Dutch capital.
