Canadian carrier WestJet celebrates its programme rollout milestone, having its 100th aircraft equipped with in-flight Wi-Fi. Altitude is no longer a concern to get for people to stay online, with the airline’s claim to be able to support streaming “sky-high” with in-flight internet services.

Installation Ahead of Schedule

WestJet has been offering in-flight internet connection to the members of WestJet Rewards, in partnership with TELUS, supported by Starlink. According to the airline, the installation has been working ahead of schedule since February 2025. And as they celebrate their milestone of the installation on the 100th aircraft, they are expecting to finish the rollout on all Boeing 737-800 and 737-8 MAX aircraft by the end of this year.

Samantha Taylor, WestJet’s Executive Vice-President and Chief Experience Officer, sees this rollout milestone of internet connection on their 100th aircraft in the fleet as an important turn for the group:

“We’re entering a new era of inflight internet in Canada, giving our guests the power to unlock world-class connectivity from 35,000 feet. This is a real game-changer for our guests, and we are proud to be the only airline in Canada offering this cutting-edge technology on its mainline fleet.”

Stay Connected High Up in the Sky

WestJet is not the only airline with a similar rollout so far. World-leading carrier Qatar Airways has finished the installation of Starlink connections on all Boeing 777 aircraft in its fleet earlier this year.

With in-flight connectivity being a new trend, we are ensured to see in-flight Wi-Fi offerings being more and more popular in the few years to come.
