WestJet, the second-largest airline in Canada, announced a new collaboration with Scandinavian Airlines System (SAS) on 11 June as they signed an interline agreement, enhancing trans-Atlantic connectivity. The airlines envision a codeshare programme as the collaboration progresses.

Seamless Travel Experience and Increased Trans-Atlantic Connectivity
According to the newly signed interline agreements, passengers can now enjoy a seamless travel experience between Canada and 29 key destinations in the Nordics, such as Copenhagen, Oslo, Stockholm, and many more.
Paul Verhagen, Chief Commercial Officer at SAS, mentioned the collaboration does not stop here:
“This partnership lays the foundation for a long-term collaboration that will benefit travellers on both sides of the Atlantic. Together with WestJet, we’re not only connecting Scandinavia with more destinations across Canada — we’re also opening up new ways to reach Europe from key Canadian cities. And with our planned codeshare, even more seamless options are just around the corner.”
The codeshare programme of WestJet and SAS flights is envisioned to commence in the coming months, further increasing trans-Atlantic connectivity through single-point check-ins and through-checked baggage. This collaboration brings heightened travelling ease between the Nordic region and Canada, encouraging travellers to explore across the Atlantic.
Both airlines will have bookings for sale from June 26, 2025, for journeys connecting WestJet and SAS flights.
Besides WestJet’s announcements of new routes, Air Canada also recently announced a resumption of direct flights to Prague, offering more options for vacations this summer. This is a great opportunity for WestJet to also develop into the Scandinavian and Nordic markets and offer more destination choices to passengers travelling between the two regions.
