A domestic flight of US-Bangla Airlines carrying 171 passengers and crew made an emergency landing at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram this afternoon.

The Cox’s Bazar (CXB) bound of Boeing 737-8Q8 (S2-AJA) flight BS 141 made an emergency landing at the airport around 1:45pm, said Sarwar E Jahan, the Airport Manager.

No casualties have been reported. The passengers and crew have been safely taken to the airport terminal, he added.

Quoting General Manager (Marketing support and PR) of US-Bangla Airlines Quamrul Islam, UNB said the flight took off from the Dhaka Airport (DAC) at 11:30am.

As a technical glitch developed, the flight made an emergency landing at Shah Amanat International Airport as there was no facility of making emergency landing at Cox’s Bazar Airport, he added.

Fire Service and Civil Defence, Deputy Assistant Director Md Jasimuddin qouted on information about the landing, 6 vehicles of EPZ, port and Agrabad units were sent to the scene.

Some of the collected photos captured during the emergency landing also show the evacuation slide ejected from the aircraft while its nose tilted towards the ground and the front wheel was not seen.

At least 51 people, including 28 Bangladeshis, were killed as the US-Bangla Airlines aircraft crashed and burst into flames while landing at the Kathmandu airport in Nepal on March 12.
