United Airlines Speed Up Starlink Connectivity Timeline

United Airlines has announced an expedited plan to launch Starlink, the industry-leading satellite hight -speed connectivity service, across its fleet. The first commercial flight equipped with United Airlines Starlink ,connectivity is now expected to take off this spring on an Embraer E-175 aircraft.

United plans to upgrade its full two-cabin regional fleet by the end of 2025 and unveil its first mainline aircraft flying with United Airlines Starlink Connectivity before year-end. Currently, Starlink, developed by SpaceX, is the fastest and most reliable in-flight internet service. The new partnership with United Airlines will feature gate-to-gate connectivity, providing high-speed, low-latency internet for streaming, gaming, online shopping, and more, at no charge for MileagePlus members.

United Airlines Starlink Mixed: Game-Changing Benefits for Members

In the statement to Travel Radar, Richard Nunn, CEO of United MileagePlus, commented:

“Adding Starlink is a revolutionary step for United travelers, unlocking unparalleled inflight experiences and new benefits for our loyal customers.” 

However, MileagePlus United’s award-winning loyalty program is a key part of the airline’s strategy.

MileagePlus members can access Starlink services on seatback screens and personal devices simultaneously, with membership available at no cost. Members also enjoy perks such as:

  • Unlimited miles that never expire.
  • No blackout dates for award seats.
  • The ability to redeem miles for nearly all purchases, from snacks to seats.

A Milestone Partnership : United Airlines and SpaceX

The airlines signed the largest agreement of its kind with SpaceX last September, committing to outfitting its entire fleet with Starlink flights. This cutting-edge technology will ensure United customers enjoy hight- speed service, the same internet quality in the air as on the ground.

Engineered by SpaceX, Starlink provides high-speed internet worldwide via the largest satellite constellation in low Earth orbit. Its capabilities enable streaming, gaming, and video calls, making it a game-changer for inflight connectivity.
