Officials at the scene where twelve deaths are feared
KCAA confirmed that the aircraft, with registration number 5Y-CCA, went down off the coast of Kwale in the early hours of the morning of 05:30 local time (02:30 GMT), which the local suspect the impact is due to adverse weather conditions including dangerous thunderstorms.
Government agencies are at the scene of Kenya’s Kwale County as twelve are feared dead in aircraft crash which was flying from Diani to Kichwa Tembo. The cause of the accident, and the impact of the crash are still unknown.
According to local Kenyan press, the plane went down in forest area enroute to leading tourist destination of Maasai Mara National Reserve,
“Relevant government agencies are already on site working to establish the cause of the crash and to evaluate its impact,” shares officials at KCAA.
The KCAA have advised media outlets that relevant emergency services arrived to the scene where firefighters battled intense flames. This can be seen in surfacing videos.
Local police have informed that the plane caught fire shortly after impact, fearing that it left little room for survivors onboard.
Mombasa Air Safari has confirmed “the plane was carrying eight Hungarians, two Germans and one Kenyan crew, all of whom had been killed in the crash.”
KCAA reassures that more detail relating to the cause and impact of the crash will be released shortly.
