When people talk about the best countries for having a flutter, they’re usually thinking about atmosphere, variety and the gambling culture of a location. Some places have become famous for their huge casino resorts, while others continue to stand out because betting is part of everyday life. With that in mind, we’ve picked out some of the must-visit countries for having a flutter in the modern era.

Summary
United KingdomAustraliaUnited StatesItalyMacau

United Kingdom

The UK happens to be one of the easiest places to associate with having a proper flutter because gambling is woven into the fabric of the nation. Football betting, horse racing, bingo, casino gaming and more have all become huge in British culture. You can even experience live casino games online, which are akin to a land-based casino experience. However, a night at a bricks-and-mortar casino in the UK is largely unrivalled and not to be missed. The same applies to having a day at the races or even visiting a seaside arcade.

Australia

Australia, like the UK, is a nation where gambling is a part of everyday life, which ultimately means it’s done well Down Under. Australia has become famous for horse racing, sports betting in general, and pokies. Rather than gambling Down Under being limited to one type of player, it appeals to many, including casual punters, racing fans and slot lovers. The social side is crucial too, with having a flutter tied to major sporting events such as the Melbourne Cup.

United States

For many people, the United States is the Mecca of gambling. It’s a country that does everything on a massive scale, and gambling is no different. Las Vegas, which remains one of the most iconic gambling destinations on the planet, features the legendary Strip, with a multitude of casinos and casino resorts littering the place. Sports betting is also a major attraction in Sin City, with many sporting events held there throughout the year.

Italy

Italy do things slightly different to other countries when it comes to gambling, as there’s a blend of old-school charm and modern betting. While sports wagering is popular, due to the interest in sports such as football, casino gaming and slots have become integral to the country’s wider gambling scene. Italy is also a country renowned for its style, and this is something that influences how having a flutter plays out, especially at land-based casinos, with the nation playing home to some of the world’s oldest gaming venues.

Macau

If the idea of having a flutter means playing at glamorous casinos where there are bright lights and luxury throughout, look no further than Macau. It’s a place that has steadily built a reputation for itself as the home of gambling in the East, with high-end casino gaming on tap. Some call Macau the “Las Vegas of Asia”, which is quite fitting, because there are so many parallels. It’s less about the everyday bookmaker and more about being the number one gambling destination in the region and potentially the world.

Conclusion

The best countries to visit to have a flutter are the ones where gambling is at the heart of the nation. It must be something that goes beyond being a simple transaction, more akin to being an experience. If a country has had a relationship with gambling for a long while, it’s going to be able to produce great experiences time and time again.
