Storm Boelo has hit Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA), forcing flights to be delayed or cancelled because of turbulent conditions. Yorkshire received a yellow weather warning from the Met Office ahead of Storm Boelo, which affected the airport on Oct. 25, 2026.

Storm Boelo hits Yorkshire’s airport

Flights from Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) were cancelled or severely delayed on Oct. 25, 2026; routes from Amsterdam, Belfast, Dublin, Palma and Malaga were affected, according to its departure board. Several flights to and from LBA were cancelled, and passengers were told to check their flight status, as disruptions were possible.

LBA sent out information advising passengers:

“Unfortunately, some departing flights have been cancelled. If you are affected, please contact your airline to discuss rebooking or refund options. If you are due to fly later today, please check your flight status directly with your airline before travelling to the airport.”

This has since changed, as airport delays eased as of Oct. 26, 2026.

Outside of the airport, approximately 13,000 homes around the Leeds Bradford area were left without power due to the storm on Oct. 25, 2026, according to National Grid. On the same day, Northern Powergrid reported that 42,000 customers were left without power, rising to almost 140,000 on Oct. 26, 2026.

Wind gusts reached 60-70 miles per hour in the areas most affected by the storm. This caused road blockages from fallen trees, affecting those travelling by car and creating challenging working conditions for airport employees.

Updated airport status

The airport is now operating with fewer delays, and passengers at LBA may be eligible for refunds or flight rescheduling.

Some flights were diverted to other airports, and passengers are advised to follow airline support for ground transportation to LBA.

LBA updated passengers on their Facebook, stating,

“Weather conditions have improved and operations are returning to normal. Our airline partners are working hard to reposition aircraft and crew back to LBA ahead of tomorrow’s flights. At this stage, significant further disruption is not expected. However, please check directly with your airline for the latest information.”
Arrival advice suggests that cars parked at LBA faced no additional parking charges as a result of the storm. Passengers should remain aware of possible disruption whilst travelling to and from LBA.
