A small plane made an emergency landing Tuesday morning in a Spring Brook Township neighborhood.

Details are sketchy, however the plane managed to land without anyone on board being severely injured around 10 o’clock in the morning.

The plane, a single engine, fixed wing aircraft, came down on O’Hara Road near the intersection with Mislinski Road. Emergency responders had the roadways closed at 11:30 am.

Emergency responders tell Eyewitness News the pilot, identified as Craig Groff, who was the only person on board, may have blown a motor. He made the emergency landing in an adjacent field, and rolled to a stop just in front of several homes.

“I saw the fire truck come in, they police, then the ambulance and they went over the top of the road,” says homeowner Audrey Bagtanski.”

Angel Flight East says the pilot of this plane was carrying the remains of a deceased baby and was headed for Binghamton, New York when the emergency landing too place.

The remains were safely recovered by a funeral home.

The FAA is investigating.
