A Little About SkyWest Inc.

SkyWest Inc. is a leading North American airline holding company headquartered in St. George, Utah, operating the largest regional flying network in the United States. They maintain major, long-term partnerships with the four largest U.S. carriers – Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines – operating nearly 500 aircraft as a regional carrier. They also connect passengers to over 240 destinations.

SkyWest, Inc. is the holding company, while SkyWest Airlines is the operating subsidiary that flies the aircraft. The company operates through SkyWest Airlines (passenger service) and SkyWest Leasing, which finances and leases aircraft.

In 2025, the company carried over 46 million passengers and continued to focus on its role as a regional operator, with substantial investments in new E175 aircraft in 2026.

Extended Contracts

In January 2026, SkyWest Inc. announced multiyear contract extensions with its major partners, Delta Airlines and United Airlines, to fly Embraer E175 aircraft. These contracts will secure the company’s regional operations through to late 2028:

  • United Airlines: An extension covering 40 E175 aircraft.
  • Delta Airlines: An extension covering 13 E175 aircraft.

These extensions are designed to provide long-term stability for SkyWest’s capacity purchase agreements, reducing reliance on volatile ticket revenue. This contract extension for their Embraer 175 (E175) fleet also solidifies their position as the world’s largest E175 operator.

By replacing older, less efficient aircraft with new, fuel-efficient E175s, they aimed to boost operational reliability and meet the demand for two-class regional service
