Scoot is a Singapore based Low cost carrier flying medium and long-haul routes from Singapore, predominantly to China and India.

Earlier today , A Singapore bound flight carrying approximately 170 passengers including the crew took off from Tiruchirapalli International Airport , India at around 1:50 am Local time bound to Singapore’s changi international airport. The aircraft was cruising at 36000 feet and flew for 1 hour and 10 minutes when the pilots encountered a smoke warning on the cargo smoke panel.

The pilots acknowledged the ATC and enforced an emergency landing into Chennai International airport which was the alternate airport of the flight 567 in case of an emergency or divert. The aircraft landed safely at around 3:41 am local time at Chennai.

Full emergency at the airport was declared and crash tenders were readied in case of a mishap. All passengers aboard were safely deboarded and given hotel accommodation within Chennai.

Another Boeing 787 aircraft was arranged by the airline which carried the passengers stranded at Chennai and landed back in Singapore . The airline apologized to it’s customers for the inconveniences caused to them.

The airline mentioned in statements “Scoot flight TR567, operating Tiruchirappalli – Singapore on 20 May 2019, diverted to Chennai International Airport, as a precaution, due to a cargo smoke warning trigger. The aircraft landed safely at Chennai airport at approximately 3.41am local time. The aircraft has since been grounded pending investigation and the preliminary assessment indicates a false warning. Scoot has mounted a replacement flight to Chennai, subject to regulatory approval, to transport customers back to Singapore. The flight will depart Chennai airport on the 20th of May 2019 at 3.30pm local time. Hotel accommodation and meals have been arranged for customers in Chennai.

The safety of our customers is of Scoot’s highest consideration. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”
