Several flights have been affected by bomb threats on Nov. 3. Seven flights were believed to have received threats but all were confirmed to be false alarms. Five of the flights were operated by Ryanair, while the other two were operated by LOT Polish Airlines and Scandinavian Airlines (SAS).

Which flights were affected?

The flights reported to have been involved include:

  • LOT Polish Airlines flight from London Heathrow to Warsaw Chapin, diverted to Warsaw Modlin
  • SAS flight from Copenhagen to Warsaw Okecie
  • Ryanair flight from Manchester to Murcia
  • Ryanair flight from Lisbon to Rome
  • Ryanair flight from Dublin to Rome

Source of the threats are currently unknown

It is currently unknown where the bomb threats originated from, but officials from Rome Fiumicino said its threats were from an anonymous tip. Bulgarian media reported that a flight which  landed in Sofia received a threat by email. The plane was originally reported as being Israeli, but it was confirmed to be a Wizz Air flight from Bergamo. All flights landed safely and passengers were evacuated unharmed. Murcia airport and Warsaw Modlin airport closed to flights but have now reopened.

All aircrafts have been searched by authorities, with Spanish government delegate Francisco Lucas confirming no explosives were found onboard the Murcia flight.

In a post on X, Lucas said:

“The Guardia Civil has ruled out the presence of explosives on the plane from Manchester following its inspection. The International Airport of the Region of Murcia resumes its activity normally. Thanks to the emergency teams that have participated in the operation.”

The incidents come after multiple recent threats to flights. On Nov. 2 a Wizz Air flight from London Luton Airport made an emergency landing in Budapest after a mid-air bomb threat was received. No explosives were found by authorities and the plane was cleared to resume its journey to Sofia. A threat was also made to a flight from Tel Aviv to Vienna was forced to land in Sofia.
