On 25 June, SAS announced a new weekly route from Copenhagen to Mumbai, starting in June 2026. This new schedule marks the airline’s return to India after 17 years. SAS, with this new route, hopes to increase intercontinental connectivity and consolidate its position as a global leading carrier.

Copenhagen to Mumbai: Enhanced Intercontinental Connectivity

SAS announced a new year-round route between Mumbai and Copenhagen, scheduled to launch in June next year. This route aims to connect the Scandinavian region with Mumbai, the financial capital of India, which is also one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. This route helps SAS consolidate its global presence and its stance as a key carrier in international aviation.

Anko van der Werff, President & CEO of SAS, is certain that this new route would bring positive changes to SAS:

“India is a key global market — both in terms of growing demand and economic importance. With this new route, SAS contributes to strengthening Copenhagen’s role as a global hub while supporting increased connectivity between India and Northern Europe, as well as between India and North America… Mumbai is a natural next step in our strategy to link Scandinavia with one of the world’s most important regions for business and leisure travel.”

The new flight pair, SK969 and SK970, is scheduled to fly 5 times every week with an Airbus A330 carrier.
