Riyadh Air has announced the launch of a new service to Kuala Lumpur. The Malaysian capital marks another step in the airline’s international expansion, supporting connections between Saudi Arabia and key cities around the world.

New route strengthens Southeast Asia links

The new service will connect Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport (RUH) with Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL). According to the airline, flights will operate three times weekly, offering travellers greater connectivity between Saudi Arabia and Malaysia for both business and leisure. It will also serve as a direct connection for Malaysian travellers to take part in the Umrah and Hajj pilgrimage.

Tony Douglas, CEO of Riyadh Air, said:

“This route is far more than a direct connection between two capital cities; it builds a vital bridge between Saudi Arabia and the broader ASEAN region. By facilitating seamless travel for business, tourism, and education, we are actively supporting Vision 2030 while delivering an elevated, digitally led travel experience for our guests.”

Flights will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays to and from KUL, which is the airline’s first destination in Southeast Asia.

Supporting Saudi Arabia’s aviation ambitions

The expansion supports Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 strategy to position Riyadh as a leading global aviation hub. Vision 2030 aims to increase international and domestic air connectivity and attract 150 million annual visitors to Saudi Arabia by 2030. It also aims to develop airport infrastructure and support Riyadh Air in serving more than 100 destinations by 2030.

The airline also earlier confirmed it will be launching routes to Malaga in Spain and Dhaka in Bangladesh in the coming weeks, as well as the launch of its inaugural full-service route to London Heathrow on June 10.
