Australia’s Capital, Connected

Canberra marks Qatar Airways‘ sixth destination in its Australian network, following Melborne, Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, and Adelaide. The new service from Doha to Canberra via Melborne is set to bring greater global connections, competition and expanded options for travel for customers from the Australian Capital Territory and surrounding regions.

The service will operate daily and connect travellers from Canberra to more than 170 destinations via Hamad International Airport in Doha, Qatar. Passengers can enjoy benefits such as free Starlink Wi-Fi and inflight service, as well as lie-flat beds and fine dining for passengers in Qsuite Business Class. Qatar Airways is also partnering with Virgin Australia to deliver onwards connections to other major domestic destinations including Sydney, Brisbane, the Gold Coast, Adelaide and Melborne, giving passengers even more flexibility.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive Officer, Engr. Badr Mohammed Al-Meer, said:

“We are delighted to return to Canberra and once again, serve Australia’s capital city. This milestone represents our continued commitment to the Australian market and to connecting communities across the world. Whether travelling for business, government service, study, or leisure, we look forward to welcoming passengers from Canberra back on board and providing them with the world-class services Qatar Airways is renowned for.”

Canberra Airport CEO, Mr. Stephen Byron, also welcomed the return of flights to Canberra, saying:

“The return of Qatar Airways is a game-changer for international travel. It restores a vital link for over a million people across the ACT and Southern NSW, while opening the door to global opportunities for business and tourism.”
