Another exciting bit of travelling news is on the horizon thanks to British Airways. The airline is set to resume their much anticipated direct service between London Heathrow (LHR) and Kuala Lumpur (KUL) recommencing in April 2025. The route has not been available since the Covid 19 pandemic. Though originally meant to restart in late 2024, the operation has been on pause due to operational setbacks. The eagerly anticipated flight route will reconnect the UK with Malaysia’s vibrant capital city. Passengers can look forward to daily flights aboard the state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, which offers a world-class experience across four cabin classes. Whether visiting for business or leisure, the route guarantees an unforgettable Southeast Asian adventure.
Worth the Wait
British Airways had originally intended to restart this route in November 2024. However, delays related to operational challenges, particularly the Rolls Royce engine part shortages pushed the launch date back to 2025. During this hiatus, Malaysia Airlines has acted as the sole operator of direct flights between London and Kuala Lumpur.
The long awaited return of KUL as a British Airways destination reintroduces competition to this popular destination. The route will be useful for passengers visiting on business, who depend on this crucial flight path which connects two major financial centers. For holidaymakers, KUL also acts as a gateway to Malaysia’s tropical beaches and more remote paradises, as well as a key connecting airport to explore the rest of Asia. Much like Singapore’s Changi Airport – SIN.
Flight Schedule
This new route offers both flexibility and convenience to British Airways passengers. With daily flights to Kuala Lumpur travellers can expect a seamless journey with a range of class options for the 13-hour flight to suit every need.
- Flight BA33: Leaves LHR at 21:10, arriving in KUL at 17:00 the following day.
- Flight BA34: Leaves KUL at 23:10, touching down in LHR at 05:25 the next morning.
The carefully planned out schedule, designed for convenience, also offers smooth connections for all travellers.

Best Times to Visit

This makes the April start date of this route perfect timing. In these months the weather is less humid, making outdoor activities and general sightseeing far more accessible.
