Turkish Airlines, renowned for flying to more countries than any other airline, announced on June 9 an influx of more weekly flights, departing from the UK and Ireland to Istanbul, aiming to meet the growing demand for summer travellers. Founded in 1933 with a modest fleet of five aircraft, the airline has grown into a major global carrier, now operating a fleet of 478 (passenger and cargo) aircraft, flying to 352 global destinations.

More Flights from the UK and Ireland to Turkey: Greater Flexibility
The North West of England will be offering four times daily departures for UK travellers. Commencing June 9, Turkish Airlines will operate 47 weekly flights from London Heathrow to Istanbul, which is two more departures per week to the Turkish capital. London Gatwick Airport is set to receive eight additional flights each week to Istanbul. Similarly, the service between Manchester and Istanbul will rise from 25 to 28 flights weekly. In Dublin, the number of weekly flights will grow from 18 to 21, now offering three daily departures. Travellers in Scotland will also see improvements, as the number of flights from Edinburgh to Istanbul will increase from 10 to 14 per week. Meanwhile, from June 10, travellers flying through Birmingham will enjoy 18 weekly flights, up from 14, offering flexibility for the UK’s second largest city.

Weekly Flights Departing to Istanbul: Meeting Rising Demand
Harun Basturk, Senior Vice President of Sales at Turkish Airlines, said:
Demand from holidaymakers in the UK and Ireland to visit Türkiye, with its rich culture, history, cuisine, hospitality, and stunning coastal resorts, remains strong year-round and peaks during the summer. We’re increasing capacity to meet this demand and offer more flexibility for travellers.
Beyond Istanbul, Harun Basturk went on to address the expansion of Turkish Airlines, saying:
As the airline that flies to more destinations than any other, our global network spans the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Oceania, all popular destinations for leisure travellers. Istanbul Airport’s status as the world’s most connected hub allows seamless onward connections from the UK and Ireland to Türkiye and beyond.
