New Route Alert: Widerøe Linking London-Bergen From March 2023

Norwegian regional airline Widerøe plans to launch a new route from London’s Stansted Airport to Norway’s second-largest city and gateway to its fjords. Bergen (BGO) from March 2023.

London Stansted’s Aviation Director, in a statement, welcomes the new carrier to Stansted airport:

We’re delighted to welcome Widerøe to London Stansted, adding another new destination to our growing network and giving passengers even more choices when travelling from their local airport.
This new route makes a beautiful region of Norway more accessible to UK travellers and an important route for business, especially the energy industry in Norway and the East of England.

The new route, which will kick off on the 26th of March, will fly twice a week: flights will leave  London Stansted Airport Fridays at 18.40  and arrive in Bergen at 21:30. Flights will also leave Stansted on Sundays at 11:30.

For the BGO-STN route,  Widerøe will use its Embraer E190-E2 jets configured to accommodate 110 passengers. The BGO-STN route will replace the carrier’s previous London Heathrow Airport link, and the airline confirms it will add a new route by April.

Widerøe’s Commercial Director, Christian Skaug, explained the reason behind the new addition thus:

We are very pleased to be flying to London Stansted from 26th March and being able to maintain London as part of our route map. London Stansted has smooth and convenient connections to the City of London, which we know our customers will appreciate

Widerøe is Expanding Beyond London’s Stansted Airport

The STN-BGO route is the latest addition from the Norwegian regional carrier but not the only one. The carrier will return to Liverpool from Bergen this summer and expand further into Europe. It is launching a Bergen-Hamburg Airport in March and doing a thrice weekly flight before adding a weekly rotation in May.

The carrier will also increase its frequency to Billund (Denmark) from twice a week to daily by the end of March.
