New Routes to Enhance Short-haul Network

British Airways (BA) has confirmed new short-haul flight destinations to Rabat in Morocco and Graz in Austria, totalling their short-haul network routes to 130 destinations. Operating via major London airports—London Heathrow (LHR), London Gatwick (LGW), and London City (LCY)—British Airways offers over 30 short-haul destinations across Europe, across summer and winter schedules. British Airways’ London Gatwick subsidiary, BA Euroflyer, will operate services year-round to the new destinations of the Moroccan capital, Rabat, and the Austrian city, Graz, from the 2025 winter season. In preparation for the brand-new destinations in place for the airline’s new short-haul routes, British Airways has announced an extensive sale on all services for the forthcoming winter.

After their record number of direct flights to North America in the 2025 summer season, British Airways continues its pursuit to increase its passenger numbers to new destinations in its short-haul network.

Flights from London Gatwick to the Moroccan capital will operate twice weekly—midweek and on a weekend day. The service will begin Nov. 5, 2025, with fares starting at £70.

An upcoming tourist adventure in the city of Rabat has become the third place in Morocco offered by British Airways; these new destinations expand the short-haul network created by BA. With seafront escapes and architectural views, Rabat offers an adventure to anyone looking to experience the rich culture, blending tradition with modernity in the Moroccan capital. According to Morocco’s Ministry of Tourism, in an interview with local Moroccan media, the country has welcomed an increase of 1.3 million in tourist populations. From a 68% increase from 2019 figures, with the latest addition from British Airways, travellers have a wider selection when booking.

Flying to Graz in Austria: New destinations expand short-haul network

The new destinations that expand the short-haul network include the city break of Graz, Austria. Bringing the grand total of Austrian destinations to four, joining Vienna, Salzburg, and Innsbruck, British Airways’ new flight destination celebrates a significant expansion in their short-haul network, as there are currently no other direct flights operating between London and Graz. Managing Director of BA Euroflyer highlights this exciting new destination addition to the short-haul network of British Airways: “We will be the only direct operation between the two cities, offering more choice to our customers, whether it’s for business, leisure, or visiting friends and family.”

Known for its beautiful array of Christmas markets, Graz offers a variety of experiences for passengers looking to book an exciting new escape this upcoming winter.

Flying from London Gatwick to the gorgeous city break of Graz, flights will operate three times a week using the Airbus A320 fleet. The service will commence from 21st November 2025, costing passengers only £60 each way (including taxes and carrier fees) when booking.

New Destinations Expand Short-haul Network of British Airways

Operating on an eleven-per-week schedule, British Airways’ London City Airport subsidiary, BA Cityflyer, will service eleven weekly flights to the Spanish capital of Madrid. The new schedule from London City will complement the existing route from London Heathrow, bringing the weekly flight count to forty-four flights.

With the expansion across British Airways’ major airports, convenient timings and schedules have been optimised for customers wishing to travel from airports within an achievable range and if they wish to connect onto other services from Madrid.

Flying from London City Airport to Madrid (Madrid Airport), flights will begin operating on 1 December 2025, costing passengers £78 each way (including taxes and carrier fees) when booking
