Lufthansa Group ( Lufthansa, SWISS, Eurowings, Brussel Airlines and Austrian Airlines) takes a major step toward improving passenger experience by integrating Apple AirTag location feature into luggage handling operations. Through this tracking service, passengers can safely share the location of their AirTag.

Lufthansa’s Apple AirTag Integration

Lufthansa Group Airlines has collaborated with Apple to integrate both “Find My” and AirTag into baggage tracking operations. The aim of this partnership is to maintain safer travel conditions as well as more efficient by reducing the stress that comes from lost or delayed luggage. This can also be overwhelming for the airline and its workers. Previously airlines attempted to use AirTag however, if a luggage was missing, airlines often couldn’t fully use the information that AirTags shared with them. Lufthansa Group Airlines stepped up to collaborate with Apple to make this system better.

What is Apple AirTag and How Will It Be Used?

The Apple AirTag is a tracking service device developed by Apple in 2021. It’s designed to help its customers by tracking devices such as car keys, luggage, and other small electronic devices.

AirTags use Apple’s Find My Network to find lost items. When users press the AirTag, a sound from the app can play. Precision Tracking can also be used to view the exact location of an AirTag. With this feature Lufthansa Group Airlines can find lost luggage more quickly which significantly cuts down on delays, improving luggage handling operations and also keeps its passengers at comfort. Overall improving passenger experience.

This Apple integration with Lufthansa Group will function on iOS devices of passengers. Passengers will have to generate a secure link in Find My app on their iOS device. The secure link will be shared with the Lufthansa customer service team, allowing them to access the AirTag’s location.
