London Gatwick welcomes summer travellers

With over 43 million passengers annually, London Gatwick Airport welcomes summer travellers this year by creating a smoother and speedier security screenings service, which will allow travellers to clear security in under 5 minutes.

To commence the summer season, London Gatwick Airport has announced that 224 destinations will be served from the second-largest airport in Britain. With 160 short-haul flights and 54 long-haul services provided by an outstanding 59 airlines, travellers have more freedom than ever when it comes to travel across the globe. From convenient timings and accessible amenities, London Gatwick’s operation to beat the holiday rush has been significantly improved for summer travellers this year.

The summer peak will hit at the beginning of August, with over 900 flight bookings, and the passenger peak will hit mid-August. Gatwick shares a strong second quarter after over 11.5million people have recorded to travel through the airport between April and June 2025. London Gatwick Airport has over 55 movements per hour, with airlines such as easyJet flying at over 300 times a day, meaning no destination is too far for those looking for the perfect summer break.

Passengers will no longer need to remove liquids, which, under new security screening and rules, can be up to 100ml in bottles and containers. These items can now be carried in cabin baggage alongside electronics such as iPads, Kindles, laptops, and more.

Cabin baggage and items stored inside will need to be x-rayed alongside shoes and belts, but the new security screening is set to reduce by 50-75%, allowing a smooth and free flow of summer travellers to beat the holiday rush.

London Gatwick Airport’s discount scheme for summer travellers

London Gatwick has introduced ‘You deserve the World’ Campaign, which is open to all passengers travelling through, and opens up a world of discounts and freebies amongst the amenities offered by the airport.

The free to sign up through MyGatwick scheme has offers such as a chance to win a pair of return flights with British Airways to a European destination of your choice from London Gatwick Airport, up to 40% off selected fragrances in Duty Free, and more discounts to be announced with the opening of new stores within Gatwick Airport.

With new security screening services and discount schemes on new opening stores, London Gatwick Airport is set to beat the holiday rush this summer.
