Jetstar Airways, an Australian low-cost carrier famous for last-minute deals, is relaunching its “return for free” deal for just 48 hours starting on October 27th and finishing at 11:59 pm on the 28th. The Jetstar flash sale includes international and domestic locations. It’s the perfect way to kick off the spooky season!

Jetstar flash sale includes Vietnam, Japan and Hawaii

The low-cost carrier’s Halloween deal will fly to several international locations, including Thailand, Hawaii, Vietnam, Japan and New Zealand. Domestically, the airline announced multiple cities and regional locations, including Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast, Perth, Darwin, and more.

While the flash sale is on for just 48 hours, tickets can only be purchased for set travel periods. Only one destination will be available from November 2022, while most will run during the Australian winter of 2023. Cairns to Osaka will be available between November 2nd and December 6th 2022, from AUD 444. Meanwhile, flights departing Sydney, Gold Coast, Adelaide and Melbourne will be available from May 2023.

Customers can book a starter fare with the return costing nothing. This means traditionally cheap Jetstar holidays have just become even cheaper, with most domestic locations costing less than a night in a hotel. Booking hotels ahead of time could land you extra savings on Hotels.com Rewards. If you are a Qantas Frequent Flyer travelling Jetstar, you can book hotels with your Qantas Points or earn points by booking with one of several major partner hotels and booking sites.

However, there are some caveats to consider when booking, such as baggage. Checked baggage is not included in the deal, meaning if you need more luggage than a 7kg carry-on, you will need to pay for additional baggage. The additional cost can vary depending on whether you fly domestic or international. Jetstar sells additional baggage increasing in 5kg increments from 15kg to 40kg. Travellers will also need to return to their departure airport.

The Jetstar flash sale also includes package deals, with Sydney to Cairns costing from AUD 332 for return flights and three nights at the Cairns Colonial Club Resort. Prices vary depending on the room you book, with a “resort room” sleeping three people costing around AUD332 to the “superior 2 queen bed room” sleeping four starting at AUD395.

The yearly Sydney-based light festival is due to take place between May 26th and June 17th, meaning customers flying from Melbourne and the Gold Coast can make use of the “return for free” deal for Vivid Sydney 2023. The festival has become one of Sydney’s biggest free events and is considered the largest light festival in the southern hemisphere, attracting 2.58 million visitors in 2022. Vivid took a two-year hiatus due to the Covid-19 pandemic but returned with a bang in 2022, showcasing never-seen-before installations and events.

Melbourne-Sydney is available for free returns between May 1st and June 21st 2023. The route will also be available for a second period between July 18th and August 31st. Meanwhile, Gold Coast-Sydney can be booked between May 1st and June 28th, while the second period matches that of the Melbourne route.

Adelaide customers can theoretically book the deal from May 1st to June 21st 2023, and connect in Melbourne by booking another flight to Sydney utilising the same promotion. This could still prove cheaper than booking a direct return. For more information, dates, availability and fares, click here!
