Flydubai is launching new services to Benghazi, flying from Dubai. The service will be nonstop, and it’s the first-ever direct route between the capital of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the second-largest city in Libya.

About Flydubai

Owned and established by the Emirati government in 2008, the airline is a low-cost carrier that operates from the Dubai International Airport (DXB). However, a low-cost carrier, Business Class service is also available to passengers, where in-service meals are offered.

Serving over 140 international and domestic destinations, Flydubai’s network is prominent within the UAE aviation industry. On international routes, the airline serves 58 countries. The airline’s fleet consists of 97 aircraft, all Boeing 737s, making the carrier a single-fleet-type airline.

Additionally, Emirates and Flydubai are strategic partners. The airlines have codeshare agreements with each other, enabling both to serve over 240 destinations via DXB.

The New Service

Starting June 17, 2026, the flights will begin operations. The services will depart from and land in DXB Terminal 3 and will fly to Benghazi Benina International Airport (BEN). The flights will take place three times per week.

With the Benghazi service, Flydubai’s network has increased to 13 destinations in North and East Africa. The cities are:

  • Alexandria and Al Alamein, Egypt.
  • Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
  • Mombasa and Nairobi, Kenya.
  • Juba, South Sudan.
  • Djibouti City, Republic of Djibouti.
  • Entebbe, Uganda.
  • Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar, Tanzania.
  • Hargeisa, Somalia.
  • Asmara, Eritrea.

Alongside Flydubai’s new service to Benghazi, flights to Al Alamein will also begin in June. However, services to the Egyptian destination will operate seasonally, during the summer months.

What’s your view on the new flights? What other destinations would you advise Flydubai to add to its network? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
