Transforming Onboard Dining

This new innovative strategy, which will initially launch in European Business Class, will eventually liven up lounges and transcontinental travel by combining culinary influences from the United States, Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Mediterranean.

“Flavors by SAS” expands from the previous SAS concept, “New Nordic” which mainly featured Scandinavian food. However, a wider, more global viewpoint is provided by “Flavors by SAS” which offers more variety and better presentation.

SAS Product & Loyalty Vice President Aron Backström said:

“While SAS has always been about bringing Scandinavia to the world, this new concept, “Flavors by SAS”, brings the world to Scandinavia, incorporating bold and diverse flavours inspired by Europe, the U.S., Asia, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean.”

Setting New Standards on Onboard Dining

“Flavors by SAS” raises the bar for onboard dining by introducing a passenger-focused, dynamic and global approach to onboard meals. Based on the duration of the flight, the meals vary from smaller meals on shorter flights to full tray meals on longer routes. Thanks to the airline’s adaptability, SAS combines different meal ingredients to guarantee freshness and variety while expediting service for a smoother onboard journey.

Aron Backström also added:

“SAS’ innovative dining approach and rotating menu system sets a new standard in in-flight dining, providing a flexible, customer-centric alternative to traditional static menus. This dynamic model positions SAS at the forefront in innovation and adaptability within airline food and beverage service.”

Porcelain mugs, tableware and glassware elevates the experience in European Business Class by substituting single-use plastics with eco-friendly alternatives. Additionally, SAS is also reducing food waste by using recyclable and compostable packaging, improving meal planning and sourcing local ingredients.
