Videos of the crash show how the helicopter seemingly lost control before plummeting to the ground

The helicopter was seen struggling in the air before crashing and landing at 2 pm on October 11 in a parking lot between Twin Dolphins Drive and Beach Boulevard. Huntington Beach confirmed on X that ‘The helicopter involved is associated with the Cars and Copters event scheduled for tomorrow.’ The Bell 222 Helicopter was due to take part in the ‘CarsnCopters’ event, announcing on Instagram that the event marked for today, 12 October, is going forward as scheduled.

This year marks the seventh annual Carsncopters event

The event showcases hypercars, helicopters and exotic cars at Huntington Beach, CA. A total of 25,000 people were expected to attend the event on Sunday, October 12.

The event’s pages detail how Carsncopters supports the local Huntington Police and community. Since the first annual event in 2018, Carsncopters has supported programs that strengthen the bond between the Huntington Beach Police Department (HBPD) and the local community. Supported initiatives include Shop With a Cop, high school scholarships, Police Department awards, Memorial Program support and recognition events.

HBPCF helps to fund other projects, including the K-9 Kim Training Field, SWAT Training Centre and Automated External Defibrillators for the local areas (AEDs).
