The Nordic airline is celebrating a decade of direct flights between Helsinki and Phuket. The inaugural flight departed Helsinki on 14 November 2014, landing in Thailand the following morning. Initially launched as a tri-weekly service, today the route is an integral part of the airline’s network, with flights set to operate daily from January 2025.
State-of-the-Art Facilities
Passengers travelling to Phuket will do so on Finnair’s state-of-the-art A350s. The aircraft features the AirLounge, a lie-flat Business Class seat, as well as a brand-new Premium Economy cabin, and refreshed Economy Class.
Customers looking to visit Phuket’s stunning beaches can also take advantage of the airline’s flights from London, starting from as little as £791 for an Economy return ticket.
For those preferring the hustle and bustle of the city, Finnair is also running a twice-daily service to Bangkok this winter, with flights timed to allow for easy connections from London Heathrow, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin.
The White-Lotus Effect
With one of the most successful TV shows of recent times, The White Lotus, filming its third series in Phuket, it is hoped that the island will benefit from ‘The White Lotus Effect’ which has seen passengers flock to filming locations featured in Seasons 1 and 2.
Phuket is renowned for having some of the world’s finest beaches, as well as being home to vibrant nightlife and exciting water activities. With the spotlight from shows such as ‘The White Lotus’ bringing awareness of its natural beauty to a wider audience, increased global connectivity could not have come at a better time for the island.
