The United States’ Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has proposed a $15.74 million civil penalty against Aery Aviation LLC due to using unsafe operations and unairworthy aircraft. Aery Aviation has been given 30 days to respond to the FAA’s enforcement letter.

Aery Aviation
Aery Aviation is a U.S. aerospace company founded in 2016 that provides integrated aviation solutions and offers services from VVIP interiors to special mission aircraft. The company is now facing a $15, 744, 352.50 fine from FAA.
It is known for specialising in aircraft modifications, engineering, certificates and maintenance for government and corporate clients.
Aery Aviation holds key operational certifications and authorisations, including:
- AS9100D & ISO 9001:2015 – aerospace and general quality management systems
- FAA Part 135 certification – commercial operations for specialised mission flying
- Supplemental Type Certificates (STCs) – approved aircraft modifications
- Defence contracts – approved supplier for government and military programs

Learjet FAA Fine
The company’s aircraft, called Learjets, are valued for their speed, sleek design, and ability to serve corporate, military, and leisure roles. Popular models include the 35, 45, and 60. The FAA claims Aery installed specialised equipment on Learjets but failed to get the necessary restricted-category certificates or waivers for flying over congested areas. This violates safety regulations and is classed as unsafe operations and an unairworthy aircraft.
Aery is accused of conducting 945 flights without such waivers, primarily near the Newport News-Williamsburg Airport, an area with heavy passenger traffic.
- Unauthorised Modifications: installed banner and target-towing equipment on Learjet aircraft without performing the required maintenance or proper documentation
- Operating Unairworthy Aircraft: due to these modifications, the aircraft required a restricted-category airworthiness certificate (the FAA claims Aery failed to obtain these while still operating flights)
- Safety Zone Violations: modified aircraft in the restricted category are prohibited from flying over densely populated areas without specific FAA waiver
- Lack of Documentation: the company allegedly failed to have maintenance personnel properly document and approve the aircraft for return to service after the equipment was installed
Aery Aviation has until Jan. 21, 2026, to respond to the agency.
