The e-Smart Group – a European logistics conglomerate – is going ahead with plans for a second-half 2027 launch of a cargo airline that will use Beta Technologies Alia CX300 freighters on regional routes. The putative carrier, ClearSky Airlines, intends to start with five of the electric aircraft, said the company at the Farnborough Airshow on July 21, 2026.

ClearSky Airlines will be operated by e-Smart Group’s subsidiary e-Smart Avia from its home base at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, the company said.
They also added that it’s currently working on acquiring an air operator’s certificate (AOC) through the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
ClearSky Airlines will be one of the first carriers to put electric aircraft into scheduled and charter regional cargo operations in Europe. Its services will focus on transporting urgent cargo up to 500 kg over distances of up to 500 km.
About Beta Technologies and Alia CX300
Based in South Burlington, Vermont, Beta Technologies is an aerospace manufacturer. They develop electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) and electric conventional take-off and landing (eCTOL) aircraft for cargo, medical passenger, and military aviation.
The Alia CX300 is an eCTOL aircraft with a single rear-mounted electric motor in a pusher configuration (a thrust device attached to a craft). With a maximum range of 622 km, the Alia CX300 can be set up to carry five passengers or the equivalent weight in cargo.
