While we reported earlier on the final decision by Emirates to suspend all but a handful of flights through Dubai, its compatriot Etihad has announced that it would suspend all flights to, from and through its hub at Abu Dhabi.
The suspension will come into effect at midnight (23:59) local time on March 25th and will last for at least two weeks—and probably much longer. Cargo and repatriation flights will continue.
Group CEO Tony Douglas called the outbreak and subsequent responses by governments around the world ‘unprecedented’.
The announcement followed the UAE’s Civil Aviation Authority and the country’s National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority’s decision to suspend operations within the country on 21st March.
