Emirates announced earlier this month that its refreshed Boeing 777’s would soon be unveiled on select routes. The new Boeing 777’s offer improved cabins for flyers’ benefit. Now, the airline has stated that they will be deploying these upgraded aircraft on short-haul flights between Dubai and Riyadh too.

Emirates Unveil Refreshed Boeing 777 on Short-Haul Flights Between Dubai and Riyadh
In a statement released by Emirates on the 17th of March 2025, the company announced that starting from March 30th 2025, the airline intends to introduce the refreshed Boeing 777 aircraft. The airline also mentioned that they hope to have all flights between the two cities on the modernised aircraft by August 11th, 2025. This development makes Riyadh the first city within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) to have all Emirates flights operated using the new aircraft.
Emirates already has plans to move all operations to Dubai’s future-focused Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC). With some airlines already offering connections between Dubai and Riyadh from this airport with lower flight times, Emirates’ move here alongside the aircraft upgrade could dramatically benefit frequent flyers of this route.
The airline attempts to make this shift after offering test flights using the latest 777’s late last year. The test flights went on to receive highly positive feedback. The change also aligns with Emirates’ aims of offering customers more opportunities to experience the airline’s best-in-class products.

What Makes Emirates Latest Boeing 777’s so Special?
The latest refurbishment of the aircraft offers four different classes with economy, premium economy, business, and first class.
The newer premium economy cabin offers a configuration of 2-4-2 for a greater sense of comfort. Though, with a reported price of around double that of economy and half that of business class, debate has sparked as to whether or not the upgrade is worth it.
First-class suites offered on this aircraft are widely regarded as being world-class. Individuals who can afford the higher price point enjoy a sense of luxury in the air, an experience Emirates has previously described as being like a ‘hotel room in the sky’.

For a journey often taking just over three hours, a little luxury could go a long way. Do you think the upgrade is worth it for a short flight? Let us know below!
