Emirates just announced that it is all warmed up to serve tourists from 7 July. Dubai will officially open for UAE citizens, residents and international visitors wishing to travel. It made the announcement in style by releasing a promotional video hyping Dubai’s reopening.

Emirates welcomed the Dubai government’s decision to introduce new protocols that will enable air travel this summer. Emirates Chairman and Chief Executive said:

I would like to thank HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid and HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed for their latest directives to reopen air travel which show their vision for Dubai as a world leader in business and tourism.

The decision to open up Dubai will recreate the business atmosphere after months of inactivity. The UAE government had closed its airspace in March when the coronavirus was spreading rapidly. Now the government has finally lifted many travel restrictions and Emirates is ramping up flights operations.

Emirates, has so far resumed flights to 40 destinations with more flights to be announced soon.  The resumption of travel to Dubai, however, will be accompanied by “careful measures to ensure the health and safety of travellers and communities.” This basically means that at every stage of travel, Emirates customers will have to follow the health measures in place — face masks, hand sanitizers and gloves.

Dubai’s new protocols will make life easier for travellers who are either going through or to the UAE. However, they will still need to fulfil entry requirements in place at their destination countries.

Emirates is looking to expand even further in the coming months and hopes to recover from the damage dealt from the pandemic. Al Maktoum commented on the future of global aviation in the following words:

The next few weeks will be a big test for the whole aviation industry in many ways. At Emirates we see a positive trend of traffic building up across our network over the past weeks, and we are ready to serve our customers.
