An agreement between Taiwan-based China Airlines (CI) and Safran,  has been signed, covering the carriers fleet of 18 Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The announcement was made at the MRO Asia-Pacific 2026 Aviation Week event in Singapore. The deal aims to strengthen the current relationship between the two companies and highlight the position of Safran’s Singapore MRO facility as a leading complex in aviation.

The China Airlines-Safran agreement

Safran Landing Systems has signed an agreement with China Airlines (CI) to support the carrier’s fleet of 18 Airbus A350-900 aircraft. The deal will include overhaul services, associated technical support, and landing gear maintenance needs from 2026 to 2031. Safran has taken a forefront in international agreements, with Emirates and Safran Seats having signed an agreement with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) last year.

Safran is an international high-technology group, operating across the aviation, defence, and space sectors. The company aims to contribute to a safer and more sustainable industry. Safran has more than 110,000 employees and  reported 31.3 billion euro in revenue in 2025, and 8,624 euro in the first quarter of 2026.

What does the agreement mean for China Airlines?

China Airlines already uses Safran Landing Systems for landing gear maintenance on its Airbus A330 fleet. Other members of the China Airlines Group, Tigerair Taiwan and Mandarin Airlines, also work with Safran Landing Systems for their fleets, particularly for their landing gear services.

Olivier Thomas, the Safran Landing Systems executive vice president of maintenance, repair and overhaul, reflected on the new agreement:

“This contract reflects the confidence China Airlines places in our teams, our technical expertise and our ability to support critical fleet operations over the long term,” he said. “As airlines increasingly seek not only to repair capabilities but also direct access to OEM expertise, we look forward to supporting China Airlines throughout this next chapter of its Airbus A350 journey.”

The agreement further strengthens the long-standing  relationship between China Airlines and Safran Landing Systems. It highlights the strategic role of Safran’s Singapore MRO facility, which serves operators throughout one of the world’s fastest-growing aviation markets.
