Cathay Pacific has officially launched the next edition of its flagship youth development programme, ‘I Can Fly.’ The formatting for this edition has been modified, giving it a whole new look for 2025.
The Beginning of This Programme’s Edition
Cathay Pacific’s ‘I Can Fly’ programme began with two Aviation Explorer days, which were arranged with the support of Hong Kong’s government’s ‘Strive and Rise’ programme.
It offers an opportunity for around 870 students from disadvantaged backgrounds to learn more about aviation. These events were delivered by 70 of Cathay Pacific’s volunteers and will include tours of the areas of an airport.
Liu Chun-San, Under Secretary for Transport and Logistics, gave his input regarding the programme:
“Cathay’s I Can Fly programme is a meaningful initiative that not only broadens the participants’ horizons, but also ignites their courage to pursue their aviation dreams. Quite a number of the locally trained pilots are also graduates of this programme, which is not just an ‘orientation course to aviation’, but also a ‘dream factory for aviation’. This weekend’s Aviation Explorer Days not only give participants a chance to appreciate the external allure of flying but also delve deeper into uncovering its inner mysteries, offering a glimpse into the behind-the-scenes operations of the aviation industry, and discovering the endless possibilities in store for them.”
The Events Coming Up for this Programme
There will be further dates for this event organised throughout 2025, preceding the first two Aviation Explorer days. This will open further doors for students to gain additional insight into aviation.
There will also be a 5-month training event for the ‘I Can Fly’ Youth Academy, allowing this programme to harbour future talent.
