Cathay Pacific has promised to offer both 100% seatback inflight entertainment (IFE) and high-speed inflight connectivity on its flights from August 2025.

About the announcement

Cathay Pacific has announced it will provide seatback IFE and high-speed WiFi across its fleet from August 2025. The development means that future passengers can enjoy the same services on all cabins and routes and always stay connected to their friends and family.

The airline offers free seamless connectivity for First Class, Business Class, and Cathay Diamond members during their journey, while it is available in Economy Class for an additional charge.

Development of Cathay Pacific’s IFE system

The airline introduced its seatback IFE in 1992 and improved it along with technological development. Earlier this year, the airline introduced 4K ultra-high-definition screens and a broader colour range inflight in order to provide a more vivid and immersive experience for travellers.

The airline has won multiple awards for its IFE system, especially its interface and interactive user experience, including the German Design Award and Red Dot Award.

General Manager Customer Experience Design Guillaume Vivet said:

“This significant milestone reflects Cathay Pacific’s long-standing commitment to and leadership in innovation and customer-centric design. We understand the importance our customers place on having access to top-notch entertainment and reliable connectivity when they travel. Whether for business or leisure, our customers will soon have access to both award-winning entertainment and unparalleled connectivity onboard all of our flights, making their journeys as memorable as their destinations.”
