Brussels Airlines will add three more Airbus A320neo aircraft to its fleet by the summer of 2026, continuing its commitment to sustainable sustainability and passenger comfort. This move will bring the airline’s A320neo count to eight, replacing older A319 aircraft and supporting fleet growth.
The A320neo also boasts environmental merits: up to 20% less fuel consumption and CO2 emissions compared to earlier models, while noise pollution is reduced by 50%. The introduction of these modern aircraft is part of the long-term strategy of Brussels Airlines to further reduce its carbon footprint, as well as to further increase passenger comfort and experience.
Sustainable Growth Brussels Airlines A320neo Additions
On Nov. 1, 2023, the first A320neo officially joined the fleet of Brussels Airlines, marking a milestone as the first-ever brand-new aircraft delivery to the carrier. The airline plans to replace two older A319s with the new additions, while the third A320neo will be used for fleet expansion.
Speaking to Travel Radar, Dorothea von Boxberg, CEO of Brussels Airlines, commented:
“Adding these advanced aircraft is a triple benefit. We reduce our environmental impact, create new job opportunities, and improve connectivity for Belgium. Passengers and crew alike will enjoy a quieter, more comfortable flying experience, with ergonomic cabins and more overhead storage.”
Fleet renewal is pivotal to Brussels Airlines’ sustainable growth strategy. The A320neo offers up to 30% fewer CO2 emissions per passenger when replacing smaller A319s. It’s making a key component of the airline’s environmental commitment.
Passenger Comfort and Experience on Airlines
Passengers on the A320neo can enjoy a quieter cabin with 50% less noise and ergonomic seats for added comfort. Meanwhile, adjustable cabin lighting makes long-haul travelers feel refreshed, and 40 percent larger overhead bins offer more hand luggage space.
Brussels Airlines is focused on profitable growth with a sustainable cost base. The airline is investing over €100 million to upgrade its long-haul cabin interiors, offering a premium passenger experience. In addition to the A320neo aircraft, three Airbus A330s will join the long-haul fleet in the coming years.
Despite supply chain challenges, the next A320neo aircraft are expected in the first half of 2026. These upgrades reflect Brussels Airlines’ commitment to fleet modernisation.
