An American Airlines Boeing 777-200ER was in the initial climb out of Ezeiza’s runway 29 when the crew stopped the climb at FL070 due to the loss of all fluid and pressure from the centre hydraulic system. The aircraft entered a hold at FL060 for about one hour before returning to Buenos Aires for a safe landing on runway 35 about 80 minutes after departure.

The flight was performed by N799AN and was flying flight AA-996 from Buenos Aires, BA (Argentina) to Dallas Ft. Worth, TX (USA).

Argentina’s JIAAC is looking into the occurrence.
