Airbus has announced that the A350 and A320neo deliveries will be delayed. The deliveries are now expected to be delayed up to 2030.
The Delays
Over the next handful of years, the deliveries of the A350 and A320neo are expected to be significantly stalled. Airbus has publicly stated that the delays regarding the A350 are likely to be extended until 2030, whereas for the A320neo customers will likely receive the aircraft around 2028.
Lars Wagner, CEO of Airbus’ commercial aircraft division, has given different reasons for the prolongation of the aircraft deliveries. Concerning the A350, Wagner explained that the company evaluated the effectiveness of Spirit AeroSystems site purchased by Airbus, who found that the previous owner allocated inadequate investments in infrastructure and tooling. Additionally, according to Aviation Week a good number of employees left the company midst transition, also impacting delivery times.
Wagner also disclosed the reasoning behind the delivery holdup in the A320neos. The CEO explained that the delivery of the CFM International Leap-1A is currently delayed, as well as a shortage of the Pratt & Whitney PW1100G engines. These factors contribute to longer waiting times for Airbus’ customers.
Airbus’ Previous Deliveries
In the first four months of 2026, Airbus has only delivered 136 A320neo family aircraft, creating a margin of 34 deliveries each month. In 2025, the average monthly delivery was 50 aircraft, a contrast to the current index. Airbus’ aims to produce between 70-75 A320neo on a monthly basis by 2027.
Furthermore, since January 2026, the company managed to deliver 15 A350 aircraft, establishing an average of almost four monthly deliveries. However, Airbus’ plan was to deliver six of those aircraft per month. The overall goal regarding the A350s, is to produce around 12 aircraft monthly in 2028.
Wagner assures the audience that the company is working tirelessly in order to assure the best quality to its clients.
