airBaltic have announced the continued success of their Pilot Academy, with the number of applications doubling this summer. This indicates the accessibility of the airBaltic Pilot Academy which welcomes students from all around Europe, and a continued desire to work in the aviation sector.
Applications Doubled
The summer season typically means a spike in applications for the airBaltic Pilot Academy as high school graduates take the next step toward further studies. With this traditional process currently underway, airBaltic has reported that applications have doubled compared to previous months. This follows a trend of growth for airBaltic who previously released their positive training performance results for 2024.

Enrolling in professional Airline Transport Pilot License studies opens the door to future growth and the path to becoming a Captain. The growing number of aspiring pilots plays a vital role in the airline’s future development, as highly trained personnel are one of the cornerstones of efficient airline operations.”
Applications for the Pilot Academy are accepted year-round, with groups of aspiring pilots starting four times a year. There are currently 161 active pupils, and the upcoming 27th group of students will begin their European Airline Transport Pilot License studies on September 3.
About the airBaltic Pilot Academy
The airBaltic Pilot Academy offers students the opportunity to follow their dreams and train as pilots with real-life application of their studies. Industry-leading technology is used throughout the programme and a second Airbus A220 full flight simulator was installed in the centre in 2024, allowing aspiring pilots the chance to learn and practice from the very start of their course.
The growth of the airBaltic Pilot Academy supports the airline’s aim to double their fleet of 50 Airbus A220-300 aircraft to 100 by 2030. Additionally, the programme also supports maintenance of qualifications by current airBaltic staff as the Pilot Academy is continuously developed and improved.
Over 130 graduates of the Academy have since become employees with airBaltic – largely as First Officers. airBaltic offers a tuition fee loan for those enrolled in the Pilot Academy, alongside further options for financing after passing the airBaltic pilot assessment and becoming an employee. This aids in lowering one of the biggest obstacles for aspiring pilots who have to consider high tuition fees, encouraging more to pursue careers in the aviation sector.
Students at the Academy hail from all over Europe – including Germany, France, Finland, Spain, Italy, Denmark, and, of course, the Baltics. The new academic year will also mark a milestone for those currently enrolled, with the graduation of over 20 students. This celebration is also doubled as it is the largest graduating class in the history of the airBaltic Pilot Academy.
