A New Gateway to the Atlantic

Latvian national airline airBaltic has launched a new direct route connecting Tallinn with Madeira, Portugal, operating once weekly on Sundays until March 28, 2026. The six-hour-and-five-minute flight opens a fresh link between the Baltics and one of Europe’s most stunning island destinations.

According to Mantas Vrubliauskas, VP Network Management at airBaltic, the route allows Estonian travellers to “experience a distinctive winter escape combining nature, adventure, and a mild climate.” The connection marks the first-ever direct service between Tallinn and Madeira.

Strengthening Tallinn’s Connectivity

Beyond Madeira, airBaltic is expanding its winter network from Tallinn, increasing flights to Amsterdam from 10 to 14 per week. This improvement enhances connectivity within Europe and facilitates easier onward travel to global destinations.

Passengers will also benefit from six weekly one-stop connections via Riga to Dubai, broadening options for both leisure and business travel. The airline’s enhanced schedule highlights its commitment to providing flexible and convenient travel opportunities for Estonian passengers.

Expanding airBaltic’s Winter Portfolio

airBaltic’s winter offerings now include a rich mix of sun and ski destinations. Alongside Madeira, travellers can choose from Tenerife, Gran Canaria, Malaga, Nice, and Barcelona for warmer escapes. For winter sports enthusiasts, continued services to Salzburg, Geneva, and Munich ensure easy access to Europe’s premier alpine resorts. With these additions, airBaltic reinforces its position as the leading carrier in Estonia, supporting both outbound travel and inbound tourism while expanding its network of over 130 routes across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus.
