Flight AI117 Emergency Landing Following Red-Issued Weather Warning

The Air India Boeing 787, registration VT-NAC, has been forced to land at Heathrow due to low-fuel at 20:20 GMT following Storm Goretti’s danger-to-life warning, and Birmingham Airport’s operational suspensions of its runways.

Flight AI117’s journey was diverted to Heathrow late evening after over an hour delay, focusing on passenger and pilot safety ahead of the dangerous storm expected to hit the Midlands later on this evening, Jan. 8.

Birmingham Airport released a statement on its website about the latest suspension following the weather warning.

“Due to heavy snow, runway operations are currently suspended. We will continue to keep our website updated with changes as they happen. The safety of our colleagues and customers is our number one priority and this decision has been made with this in mind. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Passengers due to travel from Birmingham Airport are advised to contact their airline for the latest updates on their flight.
