Air Canada has announced their plans to welcome Airbus A321 extra-long range (XLR) aircraft to their fleet with the launch of a new route between Montréal and Palma de Mallorca. These flights are scheduled to take place in 2026, presenting the carrier’s steady growth of its global network.
From Montréal to Palma de Mallorca in 2026
Air Canada is marking the start of a new era. Alongside the revision of their Aeroplan loyalty programme in 2026, the airline is set to acquire 30 Airbus A321XLRs in the year’s first quarter, on lease from Air Lease. Decorated with a new cabin design, Air Canada will be introducing these aircraft with a brand-new service from Montréal to Palma de Mallorca in June 2026. The A321XLR will accommodate 182 passengers across 14 Signature Class seats and 168 Economy Class seats – and eager travellers can book their seats now at aircanada.com or at travel agents.
Air Canada will also transition their existing routes to the A321XLR, including year-round services between Montréal and Toulouse, and seasonal flights between Montréal and Edinburgh. The carrier is further scheduled to receive up to an additional 10 A321XLRs in 2026, which they aim to use to add more routes from other Canadian cities, such as Toronto, Ottawa, and Halifax.
