In 2025, United Airlines redesigned its MileagePlus reward programme. It aims to provide regular travellers with more benefits, flexibility, and incentives. The upgraded programme is expected to revolutionise the way members accrue and use miles by emphasising individualised experiences, benefits associated with elite status, and streamlined eligibility requirements.

Advantages of United Airlines MileagePlus

Key advantages of United Airline MileagePlus include the following:

  • Additional Ways to Accumulate and Use Miles

The enhanced flexibility in earning and redeeming miles is one of the most significant enhancements to the updated MileagePlus programme. Members can lower their out-of-pocket expenses by using their miles to partially pay for flights. Furthermore, it increases the number of options for seat upgrades, facilitating easier access to business and premium economy upgrades. Additionally, members can use miles for non-flight benefits like hotel stays, lounge access, and in-flight purchases.

  • Customised Incentives and Special Benefits

Customised promos and bonus mile offers based on individual travel habits are now available through MileagePlus. Members can save on travel expenses by taking advantage of exclusive discounts on hotels, airlines, and rental cars, as well as customised travel benefits, such as VIP treatment at partner lounges and early access to airline offers.

  • Travel Collaborations

The revised programme improves United’s partnerships with travel agencies, hotels, and airlines. MileagePlus members now have more alternatives for international travel since they may easily earn and redeem miles with Star Alliance partners. Access to first-class airport lounges extends to flights on specific partner airlines.

If you are already a MileagePlus member and have taken advantage of the new benefits, share your experience in the comment section!

Your statement “MileagePlus members now have more alternatives for international travel since they may easily earn and redeem miles with Star Alliance partners” – how exactly were alternatives increased? On what partners?
