British budget airline easyJet announced it will withdraw services from Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) in early 2027. According to the airline, this decision comes after an extensive review of its route services from the airport. The exodus was attributed to easyJet’s focus on prioritising flights in high-demand areas.

Not so Easy to Jet from LBA
EasyJet announced it will discontinue services at Leeds Bradford Airport, one of the major airports serving key locations in Yorkshire and Northern England, disrupting travel plans for many holidaymakers. The airline will cancel all direct flight services from the airport, including six routes from LBA to Barcelona, Paris, Belfast, Malaga, Mallorca and Geneva.
The services are set to cease operating on Jan. 5, 2027. Passengers currently using these services will need to travel from a different airport or choose an alternative airline.
In a statement confirming the decision, a spokesperson for easyJet attributed the reason for the withdrawal to prioritising customer demand, saying:
“Following a review of our routes from Leeds Bradford Airport, we have made the decision to no longer operate flights from the airport after 5 January. Our focus is on maintaining and developing routes which prove most popular with customers.”
The spokesperson also apologised for any inconvenience caused by the change and highlighted options for those who have already booked flights scheduled from LBA after the discontinuation date. Those passengers will be entitled to either a full refund or a free transfer to a flight from an alternative airport.

Some Service Uncertainty
Since the announcement, uncertainty has surrounded easyJet’s services from LBA in the lead-up to the official discontinuation date. EasyJet has not yet confirmed whether all flights currently listed from LBA will operate as planned until Jan. 5, 2027.
The airline’s website indicates some routes will end earlier than others, with no scheduled flights to Geneva at all, while flights to Malaga and Mallorca are showing through November 2026. Flights from LBA to Paris, Barcelona, and Belfast are still showing right up until January. This suggests that routes could potentially be phased out ahead of the full airport withdrawal; however, easyJet has not confirmed any timetable changes before that date.
The airline’s spokesperson expressed positive sentiment towards LBA, commenting:
“We value the relationship we have built with Leeds Bradford Airport and we always keep options for our network under review, with the aim of providing more choice and connectivity where we see demand.”
The change is likely to affect airport traffic at LBA and the surrounding area, as easyJet passengers will travel via the next closest alternative, such as Manchester Airport (MAN), which operates easyJet flights out of Terminal 2.
