United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based passengers can now use their Jaywan cards to pay for Etihad Airways flights directly from the airline’s website. Etihad is the first airline to accept flight bookings using the UAE’s national domestic card scheme.

New payment option

Jaywan cards can be used to book flights on all Etihad Airways flights.

Customers can complete their flight booking directly through the airline’s website, adding an extra payment option for UAE-based passengers.

Operated by Al Etihad Payments (a subsidiary of the Central Bank of the UAE), Jaywan is the UAE’s new national card payment scheme built for everyday use and designed around local needs. It’s fully connected to global payment networks, making it perfect for the large expat population residing in the Emirates. Jaywan offers two card variants: Jaywan Debit Cards (including Jaywan Prestige and Jaywan Royal) and Jaywan Pre-paid Cards.

Jaywan Royal benefits coming soon

Cardholders of Jaywan Royal – a premier tier of Jaywan – are set to receive Etihad benefits, including exclusive discounts on Comfort and Deluxe fares and priority access benefits.

While no date has been set, Etihad Airways said these benefits will be coming soon.

Mark Potter, the managing director of Etihad Guest at Etihad Airways, said:

“Being the first airline to accept Jaywan payments is a proud moment reflecting our commitment to deliver greater choice and convenience for our guests, while rewarding loyal travellers. This is the first step in our partnership with Al Etihad Payments, and a demonstration of how closely Etihad is aligned with the UAE’s strategic growth and integration across sectors. UAE-based guests can now book with us using a payment method built specifically for them, and it’s a move towards a broader offering that will soon reward our Etihad Guest members holding Jaywan Royal cards with exclusive fare discounts and priority benefits.”

This scheme follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed by Etihad and Al Etihad Payments in October 2025.
