Wizz Air carried more than 8.3 million passengers in July 2026, marking a 31.6% increase compared with the same month last year, as the airline continued to expand its network and capacity ahead of the peak summer season.

Network expansion continues across Europe

The low-cost carrier reported carrying 8.36 million passengers during the month, while available seat capacity increased by 30.4% year-on-year to almost 8.9 million seats. The airline’s load factor also improved to 93.7%, up from 92.8% in July 2025.

During July, Wizz Air announced new operational bases in Madrid (MAD), Valencia (VLC) and Prishtina (PRN), further strengthening its European network.

The Spanish bases, due to open in November, will each be served by two based aircraft and support the launch of 13 new routes, including domestic and international services. In Kosovo, the airline will base one Airbus A321neo and introduce new routes to Brussels Charleroi (CRL), Karlsruhe/Baden-Baden (FKB) and Basel-Mulhouse (BSL).

The carrier also launched WIZZ Holidays, a new booking platform allowing customers to combine flights with accommodation and ground transfers.

Efficiency improves despite higher emissions

Wizz Air reported total carbon dioxide emissions of 637,400 metric tonnes in July, an increase of 19.3% compared with the previous year, reflecting higher flight activity.

However, emissions per passenger kilometre fell by 4% to 48.8 grams, highlighting improved operational efficiency as passenger numbers continued to grow.

The passenger increase follows a strong period of network development for Wizz Air, with the airline continuing to add capacity across key European markets. The new bases and routes are expected to further expand its presence in Southern and Eastern Europe. At the same time, the airline continues to focus on maintaining high load factors during the summer season.
