Romanian carrier AnimaWings has expanded its fleet with the delivery of an eighth Airbus aircraft on July 6, while announcing five new scheduled routes from Bucharest, Timișoara and Cluj-Napoca. The additions form part of the airline’s ongoing network expansion, targeting increased demand for direct connections to major European cities.

New routes strengthen domestic operating bases

The latest aircraft, an Airbus A220-300, brings AnimaWings’ fleet to eight Airbus aircraft, comprising six A220-300s and two A320s.

Since July 13, AnimaWings has begun twice-weekly flights between Bucharest and Rotterdam, operating on Mondays and Fridays.

The airline has also launched services from Timișoara to Copenhagen and Rotterdam on July 15. Both routes will operate twice weekly, with Copenhagen served on Mondays and Wednesdays, and Rotterdam on Wednesdays and Sundays.

From Cluj-Napoca, direct flights to Vienna and Frankfurt have commenced on July 17. Both routes will operate twice a week and will include a Business Class cabin.

AnimaWings said Timișoara now serves as its second operational base alongside Bucharest, while Cluj-Napoca could become an operational base in the future.

Fleet growth continues through 2027

The newly delivered Airbus A220-300 is configured with 148 seats across Economy and Premium Economy cabins. According to the airline, the aircraft offers improved passenger comfort through larger windows, wider seats, LED cabin lighting and individual USB charging ports, while reducing fuel consumption and emissions compared with older aircraft.

Founded in 2020, AnimaWings plans to expand its fleet to 14 aircraft by the end of 2027 as it continues growing its scheduled network.
